Flea Market to Benefit Reformation Hope

Our school is partnering with a ministry in Haiti, Reformation Hope, to help them raise money to rebuild their orphanage, which also serves as a church. Please check out their website here to see how the Lord is already revealing Himself through this ministry in Haiti. On Saturday, February 20, 2010, The Heiskell School is hosting a flea market on the school grounds in which all proceeds will be donated to Reformation Hope.

In preparation for this big day, our class has been spending time in prayer for the big event! Read these heartfelt prayers of our students. Perhaps, your heart will be touched for ways you can be praying, not only for the flea market, but also for Haiti and the ministry of Reformation Hope.

• Pray we will raise a lot of money.
  
• Pray that the people who are doing it will have enough items to sell.
  
• Pray that people would pay a lot for something little.
  
• Pray that everyone will be able to attend.
  
• Pray that there would be a large crowd at our flea market.
  
• Pray that people would be eager to buy stuff.
  
• Pray that items for sale won't break.
  
• Pray that the money we send to Haiti will make it safely.
  
• Pray that there will be enough money to rebuild the orphanage.
  
• Pray that a lot of money will be raised for Reformation Hope.
  
• Pray for the volunteers who will help at the flea market.
  
• Pray that customers will want to buy the items.
  
• Pray that there would be enough tables for the flea market.
  
• Pray for more volunteers to help.
  
• Pray that people who don't know Jesus will come to the flea market and see Him here.
  
• Pray that the flea market won't be canceled due to the weather.
  
• Pray that other prayers would be offered for the flea market.
  
• Pray for those students who are selling their seed money projects at the flea market.
  
• Pray for S as she sells the casting statues she is making as a seed money project.
  
• Pray for R as he sells hot chocolate and bracelets he has made as a seed money project.

Are you still praying?

For Haiti, that is. We are. Today, our class had another prayer time for this nation. I would love to share some of the prayers of the children with you once more. This might be a helpful way for you to know some things you can be praying specifically for the people of Haiti as well as the ministry of Reformation Hope. Go here to see other ways you can become involved in helping Haiti and partnering with Reformation Hope. One of the most important ways to help this nation is through prayer. I hope after reading the prayers of our class today, you might feel led to join us in praying for Haiti.

• Pray more people would come to know God.

Want to be a cheerful giver?

In 2 Corinthians 9:7 the Bible says, "So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." That word cheerful, as translated in the original Greek language hilaros, actually means hilarious. Hilarious as defined by Webster means exceedingly amusing; boisterously merry. What a great word! You have an opportunity to join us at Heiskell in being hilarious givers for Haiti.

Fridays, February 5, 12 and 19, volunteers will be on site to receive donations for the Flea Market and Silent Auction

• 7:30-9:00 a.m. during morning drop off
• 11:30 a.m.-12:00 noon during preschool dismissal
• 2:30-3:30 p.m. during elementary/junior high afternoon carpool
Pull into the elementary parking lot for directions to the drop off spot. Boxes and sturdy bags are most appreciated.

Items of greater value may be donated for the Silent Auction. If you have a contribution specifically for the Silent Auction, please designate clearly and contact Chrissie Wayt through our front office: frontoffice@heiskell.net.

Prayers for Haiti

Throughout this school year, our class has been spending a couple of days each week praying for other nations. In the beginning we concentrated our prayer time on the countries in Africa because that is our nation of study this year. However, many things have happened this school year that have caused us to expand our prayers to other nations, one of them being Haiti. Currently, our school is partnering with Reformation Hope to raise money that will aid in their rebuilding process. A praise to date, they have already received enough money to rebuild their wall and dig a well. Now, they are raising money to rebuild the orphanage, which also serves as a church. You can read more about their ministry here. This morning, our class spent time in prayer and offering praise to Him for the ways in which He is already working through this disaster. I wanted to share some of their prayers and praises with you:

• Pray that there will be enough money to rebuild homes and buildings in Haiti.
  
• Praise that Reformation Hope already has the money to rebuild its wall and will be able to dig a well.
  
• Pray that there will be enough food.
  
• Prayer for the orphans and children that they will be safe and have shelter and water.
  
• Pray that the people of Haiti will come to know God.
  
• Pray that they will have clothing.
  
• Pray that building and hospitals will be able to be rebuilt.
  
• Pray that God will burden the hearts of Americans to help the Haitians.
  
• Pray that we will be able to raise a lot of money for the orphanage.
  
• Even though they have lost their physical stuff, if they have Jesus they have all they need.
  
• Pray for those who are still searching for loved ones.
  
• Pray for beds to be provided for people who are hurting and need medicine.
  
• Pray that those who have been hurt will receive the medical attention they need.
  
• Praise for the ones who survived the rubble.
  
• Pray for our supplies that are being sent to Haiti even today.
  
• Pray that no one would try to stop our supplies from reaching Reformation Hope.
  
• Pray that the convoy would reach Haiti.
  
• Pray that none of the items sent will be stolen.
  
• Pray that more doctors and nurses would be able to go and help.
  

Casual for a Cause

Currently, our school is taking part in several efforts to send relief and aid to the people in Haiti, specifically through a ministry called Reformation Hope. You can go here to read more about this ministry and their pastor, Jean Paul. Tomorrow, students are participating in Casual for a Cause. Students can bring in $5 plus any donations and wear their finest casual clothes in place of their uniform for the day. Also, today and tomorrow we are collecting items that will be sent directly to the orphans at Reformation Hope. Here are some items we are collecting: blankets, air mattresses, hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, etc.), non-perishable food (dried beans, rice, canned meat, cooking oil, etc.). All items may be dropped off at The Heiskell School during morning and afternoon car pool. Stay tuned for more ways your family can be involved in bringing hope to the nation of Haiti.
